Mossberg 22 LR US Property 144 Information
US144 similar to the 144 civilian issue. U.S. Government had contracts for these rifles from 1949 to around 1960 and were used by the Army, Navy, Air Force and ROTC as training rifles. US144 purchased from CMP (Civilian Marksmanship Program). Redfield 75 rear sight and Redfield 60's series globe front sight. Note the blacked out elevation slide, from his experience this maybe something to do with military contracts as the civilian versions seem to be bright and shiny.
